Hints of human lineage echo in its form, and faces pondering their own existence seem to phase in and out of its morphotech cloak. Red light emerges from within its otherwise dark form, indicating the capacity for courage, emotion, and seduction but also warning of danger.

What form will take shape from this creature’s beginning? What path will it choose? What forces will influence it? Will it be more machine than human? Time will tell.

Interpretation

Upright: The Fool invites us to view the world with fresh senses, warns us to be aware of the forces of influence that surround us, and reminds us that we are the result of a long lineage.

Reversed: The Fool tells us we are holding back or being careless. It is time for self-reflection and understanding.

This card symbolizes the esoteric motives in man. It describes the application of will through union with supernatural forces. The Magician is an integrated being, walking the two paths simultaneously with the assistance of a guardian entity. But is The Magician using the entity, or the entity using The Magician?

Interpretation

Upright: Manifestation of reality through application of the will. Resourcefulness and motivation. Exhibiting power that can both create and destroy.

Reversed: Underutilized talent. Misapplied abilities. Wasting time.

The Priestess signifies the presence of the holy dwelling in the material kingdoms. She is both gateway and guide for those who know how to commune with her. She demonstrates the ability for mortals to connect with the divine, a reminder that technology is not the only path to progress.

Upright: Gnostic intuition. Evocation of divine guidance from the subconscious. Divine femininity.

A royal figure, covered in rich clothing consisting of material technology. She is a daughter of heaven and the path of entry from that plane to corporeal existence. Her headpiece is connected to a wall terminal, powering her wearables, and arcing electrical discharges. Looked at in another way, she is tethered to the wall. Her sublime expression mirrors the transience of matter, suggesting she could dematerialize and rematerialize at will, if only she wasn’t cloaked in the clothing of the world.

She signifies physical birth, creation, and arcane knowledge. Her high-tech cloak is a sign of the benefits of wealth while the weight of it is a reminder of the trappings of duty.

Interpretation

Upright: The Empress suggests ideal femininity and beauty, while hinting these are societal constructs. She indicates abundance of resources through divine providence.

Reversed: An upside-down Empress is one who dangles from the ceiling, dependent on her connection to it. She is trapped by social norms.

Description

A youthful figure, not clearly male or female, stands confidently at the center of attention. Surrounded by heads of state and counselors, The figure seems to emanate order- a clear ruler by birthright and capability. A darkly clad clergyman holds a holographic crown and effigy high above the figure‘s head symbolizing that their power extends far beyond their physical form. The color red is prominently radiating from the figure, in this context, red is a color of power. The color of blood, hinting at birthright.

The figure signifies leadership and power. These are traditionally thought to be masculine qualities, but the androgynous figure reminds us that these constructs are less meaningful in a post human world.

Interpretation

Upright: Authority is the obvious meaning of the card. Establishment and structure are also hinted at. But we are reminded more subtly that these things evolve and change form. This figure is clearly grounded in the material world.

Reversed: The misapplication of power, most likely born our of insecurity or frustration. Rigidity and lack of discipline.

Upright: Spiritual wisdom and conformance to tradition and norms., perhaps to the point of faking it to hide a desire for more exciting experiences.

They appear youthful and experimental. The ambiguity of gender and the addition of one to the more traditional couple their post human society.

The card suggests innocence and love, free of socially enforced norms, while also implying experimentation and adventure, driven by the high of hormones. 

Interpretation: 

Upright: The  lovers indicate innocence and newness. Values in alignment with one's beliefs, not necessarily sexual or romantic in nature. Choices and the freedom to make decisions based on personal values.

Reversed: Disharmony and imbalance. Playing a part. Being stuck in disharmonious situations. Ennui. Boredom.

Description

The figure stands confidentially as if it could be no other way. What destination will be chose is to be determined. The fact that the vehicle approaches from the air implies that the possibilities are limitless. 

The card suggests success and freedom granting resources.

Upright:  Successful endeavors. Willpower and determination. Mastery of emotions.

Reversed:  Lack of self-discipline or misdirected self-discipline. Lack of direction. Distractions.

Description

A technologically enhanced human with a muscular body and a vacant gaze. Wires feed devices and connect to biology. There is a subtle hint that the muscular form is only a facade hiding a purely technological being within. The being is additionally augmented about the senses, wearing a tech girdle around the head. One gets the sense that strength and aptitude beyond the physical is present. 

The card is a clear indicator of power and prowess, physical or otherwise. The powerful body is the result of technology, appears emotionless, and lacks arms. The interpretation of these specific characteristics is left open.

Interpretation:

Upright: Strength is the most obvious interpretation. But prowess of mind including courage, compassion, persuasion, and intelligence are all included.

Reversed: Strength from within. Or diminished spirit and even depression and anxiety.

The card suggests attainment, or perhaps the dedicated effort associated with it, successful or not.

Reversed: Isolation, realized or not. Loneliness or a path to it.

The card implies probabilistic chance while hinting that it may be an illusion simulated by machinery and obscured by complexity.

Interpretation: 

Upright: Luck, destiny, a divinely chosen path. Approach the wheel with a clear mind for a clear outcome.

Reversed: Bad luck or chaos. This can sometimes manifest in clinging to an authoritarian figure.

The scene implies exactly what you would expect of justice: fairness, well-ordered logic, and an esteem for the process. The two robed onlookers represent the institution, but their robes be those of lawyers, or those of cultists.

Interpretation:

Common analysis of the traditional version of the card with figure in upside down meditative ease often suggest the symbolism is the relationship between divinity and the universe. In contrast, this reinterpretation focuses on the connection between biology, magic, and technology.

Interpretation:

Upright: Embracing progress. A fresh perspective. Diving in. A scientific mind. Pragmatic inquisitiveness. 

Reversed: Analysis paralysis. Letting perfect get in the way of good. Purposefully putting off a decision.

Description

A grim creature, face scarred and mutated, holding a glowing red object. The creature stands grimly over a figure, as if a specter bearing down. The figure’s face is also scarred, though not as badly, perhaps just beginning on the same path as the one above. Is the glowing object a gift to commemorate the path? Or is it the heart, or power source of the set upon figure?

The obvious symbolism is in the name death and the number thirteen. But the card suggests, as many prior versions have, the process of change, of which death is simply one incarnation. In this case however, there is the suggestion of transmutation to post humanism.

Interpretation:

Upright: The ending to something of significance. Transformation. Transmutation of the self.

Reversed: Resistance to change. Being stuck. Confinement.

Description:

An androgynous figure, beset by a radiant halo with the hint of an angelic bust and mechanical wings extended out from each side. In the distance is a temple in an atmosphere of red. There is a suggestion of thermal radiance indicating the temple is perhaps a mirage. In fact, the whole scene may be an illusion.

The figure symbolizes balance between the technical and the spiritual. The mechanical wings are extensions of an ethereal spiritual halo, as technological progress is an emanation of the mind.

Interpretation:

Upright: Balance in all things. Optimization, technical or otherwise. Taking the middle path as that in Buddhism. A methodical or methodological approach demonstrating patience and planning. Clarity of purpose.

Reversed: Imbalance. Narrow thinking. Not seeing the forest for the trees. Hedonism. A flippant regard for things. Lack of purpose. Straying from a path.

 Description

A cybernetic creature with a radiant crimson head, horns extending on either side, nerves and circuitry reaching out into the environment. The face is stoic or introspective, simply looking for more information. The environment is abstract, indicating muted sensation. At the breast is technology, perhaps to keep the biological components alive. A glowing red power source is at the bottom left of the card.

The figure is a representation of posthuman technological harmony, or a subtle descent from it. The creature is an iteration of humanity, as humanity is an evolutionary form emergent from animal kind. Yet, the biological features remind of its connection to the flesh, just as humans are connected to their animal roots. The power source symbolizes the reliance of this form on the physical universe- a path toward technological magic rooted in physics, distinct from, but similar to the path of the supernatural magic.

Interpretation:

Upright: Duality of self. Unrecognized motivations such as sexual desire or algorithmic influence. Addiction. Repression. Dissociation. Ego.

Reversed: Exploration or embrace of the dark. Release. 

Description

A structure clearly built but perhaps also grown. Lightning strikes from it to the sky rather than the expected reversal. Dark clouds of smog and smoke encircle the tower, suggesting hostility to biology. Two lesser towers in the background imply replication and propagation. While no other buildings seem intact. Perhaps the scene of a great catastrophe. Is the tower a survivor, perpetrator, or benefactor of destruction?

The tower suggests lofty goals, perhaps misaligned by pride. The push for progress without consideration for unintended consequences and those impacted by it.

Interpretation:

Upright: An unexpected, rare event, or tipping point. Chaos. Emergent phenomena including sudden consciousness or realization.

Reversed: Positive transformation. Anxiety and dread. Survival of a disaster or other negative event or avoiding it altogether.

Description

A prominent glowing star suspended above the head of a humanoid being. The star touches the crown of the head while also reaching up to heaven with a radiant beam of light. The core of the star appears physical while the material forming its greater aspect is of a more ethereal nature. The humanoid is nondescript and could be interpreted as android in nature, calling into question the nature of the scene.

The card is a symbol of the divine spark. A connection to the truth of the universe. What is life? What is divine and what is capable of connection to it?

Interpretation:

Upright: Aspirations good or not. Faith. Confidence. A connection to the spiritual. Guidance through connection the subconscious. Positive connections.

Reversed: Lack of faith or confidence. Loneliness. Negative or superficial connections. Self-reliance, positive or not.

Within the greater sphere can be seen illusory images- a face, buildings, circuitry. The being’s hand is connected, perhaps permanently, to a terminal.

The card describes manifestations from within, and in this instance, includes those driven by the artificial networks that surround.

Interpretation:

Upright: Feelings and concerns arising from the subconscious such as intuition, fear, and even delusions. Illusory constructs from the self and from the networks with which we engage.

Reversed: Letting go. Chaos within the self. Ignoring intuition.

A statue of a naked humanoid is in the foreground. Colorful auroras dance through the scene, evoking awe from the power of the prominent sphere, reflecting its life-giving properties. But auroras are the result of dangerous radioactive particles interacting with a protective magnetic shield surrounding the planet. These auroras are at ground level, suggesting the lack of that protection.

The card signifies that which precedes aspiration. It is inspiration, divine or not. It is the sense of awe felt by a child discovering the world. A child that is blissfully ignorant of danger.

Interpretation:

Upright: Optimism. A sense of wonder. Evaluating circumstances in a positive light. Profound inspiration. Vitality.

Reversed: Regression. Ignorance, especially of danger. Seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.

 Description

An authoritative figure stands behind a bench surrounded by abstract lights. The figure is lacking eyes. Although there is a hint of biology in the area the mouth, the rest of the figure appears to be enhanced by, or even entirely made of, technology. A human is standing below the authority, in the process of being evaluated.

The scene is one of evaluation, but that can be of many forms. Looked upon with one set of eyes, one sees a person being legally judged. From another view, the person may be encountering a gatekeeper, beyond which are abstract shimmers representative of heaven, literal or otherwise.

Interpretation:

Upright: Judgement. Getting what is deserved. The end of a long journey. The completion of an important project.

Reversed: Lack of confidence. Self judgement, negative or otherwise. Ignoring a calling.

Closer still and we see that the humanoid is propped on robotic stilts and wired to a terminal.  Within the globe are reflections of humanity, technology, and magic. Assessing the full card, one gets the sense this may be one of many globes. 

In addition to prompting answers, the card poses questions Is this globe a reflection of the world around it or a reality all its own, with beings outside looking in? The card seems to imply that: if magic is reality in conformance with the will, then the ultimate expression of magic is the creation of an entire reality. And yet it also implies there is room for many realities.

A human head with nose and mouth but the top is an array of network nodes and sensory devices. Above is another face, seemingly a smaller version of the lower. It is not clear if the face is a projection of the mind or if the mind is a projection of the senses. Nor is it clear which, if either of the heads is originator. Nor does it matter.
